triomni robot

Driving in straight lines is boring. So, I decided to build a Tri-Omnidirectional Robot Car.

Instead of normal wheels, this robot uses three special wheels placed in a triangle. It does not need to turn around to change direction—it just slides anywhere instantly.

Expectation vs. Reality

I thought it would glide smoothly like a futuristic butler. Instead, it mostly spins like crazy, slides sideways under the couch, and blocks my bedroom door like a tiny, aggressive guard dog.

What I learnt

  • Math is Hard: To move forward, you cannot just spin the wheels. You have to calculate three different motor speeds at the same time.
  • Dust Magnet: The special wheels have tiny rollers. They are great for moving sideways, but they also collect every piece of dust and hair on the floor until the motors jam.

Conclusion

It is chaotic and crashes into walls, but it makes me look like an engineering genius. 10/10.
